Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), Bangalore
was founded in the year 1980 by the Vokkaligara Sangha and is affiliated to
Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
The college is also recognized by General Medical Council, United Kingdom, World Health Organization and the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists, London.
The Vokkaligara Sangha took a formal decision on 2.9.1979 to start a medical college from the year 1980-81 and applied for permission to the Registrar, Bangalore University.
The aim of the institute is to impart training to medical
students to be competent in the management of health problems of the individual
and the community, commensurate with his or her position as a member of the
society and familiarize with the national health programs.
A Magnificent college building to mark the centenary celebrations
of the Vokkaligara Sangha and the Silver Jubilee of KIMS has been built at the
Banashankari Campus.

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
1. The candidates should have passed the M.B.B.S degree examination
from a recognized Medical College affiliated to any university recognized by
the MCI
2. The Candidates should have completed one year of
Compulsory Rotating Internship in a teaching institution recognized by the MCI.
3. The Candidates should have registered their M.B.B.S
degree with the respective State Medical Council.
4. Selection of candidates for postgraduate degree / diploma
courses shall be on merit basis of the rank list of the entrance examinations -
PGET conducted by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences & COMEDK
