The Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) is an
undergraduate level degree course designed to satisfy the academic component of
professional certification bodies, to be followed by a period of practical
training prior to professional assessment and registration. It is awarded for a
course of study that lasts up to five years. In some cases, a B.Arch. can be
undertaken after having completed a three-year generalized architectural degree
plus an additional two years.
As per the provisions of the Architects Act of the
year 1972, the Government of India established an administrative unit the CAO
or the Council of Architecture in the country. Besides maintaining the
registration of architects, CAO is responsible for the regulation of
professional education and practice in the entire nation. Any person aspiring
to become an architect needs to pass a B.Arch program and then register him or
herself with this council so as to practice on his or her own.

The National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA)
